On March 28, 2022, Mr. Yoon Hyeong-won, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in China, and his secretary visited Kyoto Law Firm. The meeting was attended by Mr. Jin Yan, Senior Partner of Foreign Affairs Department of Kyoto Law Firm, Prof. Dong Xinyi (Part-time Lawyer), Mr. Song Yuehua, Mr. Cui Huilian and Mr. Jin Yi, Partner of Competition and Antitrust Department of Kyoto Law Firm.

On behalf of Kyoto Law Firm, Mr. Jin Yan welcomed Counselor Yoon and introduced the basic situation of the firm. Counselor Yoon introduced the efforts he has made during his tenure to help Korean companies and individuals in China to better understand Chinese laws, including the publication of a compendium of laws and regulations in Korean.

Counselor Yoon and the attorneys discussed the legal areas that will be of interest in the future and exchanged views on the criminal, compliance and anti-monopoly regimes of the two countries. The two sides agreed that despite the ups and downs of diplomatic relations between China and Korea, the two countries have a deep history and are geographically close to each other, and therefore economic, trade, and humanistic cooperation between the two countries will continue to expand. Counselor Yoon said that although the market for legal business is shrinking at the moment, there is bound to be a great demand in the future, so it is important for both of us to continue to pay attention to China-Korea legal affairs in order to prepare for the future.

The year 2022 will mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Korea, and both parties hope that the relationship between the two countries will grow in this year of special significance for the two countries, and that we will contribute to the economic development and friendship between the two countries together.
