On September 13, the launching ceremony of the “1+1” China Legal Aid Volunteer Action 2024 was held in the Great Hall of the People. Gu Xiulian, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Tenth National People's Congress, attended the meeting and delivered a speech; Li Mingzheng, member of the Party group and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Justice, conferred the flag of legal aid volunteers on the representatives of the volunteers and put forward his requirements; and Zhao Dacheng, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the China Foundation of Care and Relief for the Martyrs of the Legal Aid and Administration of Justice, presided over the ceremony. He Fang, a lawyer of Beijing King&Capital Law Firm and a CPC member, as a member of “1+1” China Legal Aid Volunteers, will carry out legal aid work in Pinggui District of Hezhou City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, for a period of one year, which is the third consecutive year that He Fang has participated in the “1+1” China Legal Aid Volunteer Action. This is the third consecutive year that Mr. He Fang has participated in the “1+1” China Legal Aid Volunteer Program.

Xia Tao, second grade inspector of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Justice, and relevant personnel from the Lawyers' Work Department attended the launching ceremony and sent off the 16 outstanding lawyers selected for the program.
The 16 lawyers from 16 law firms in Beijing went to Tibet, Qinghai, Xinjiang, Gansu, Sichuan, Guangxi, Guizhou, Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia, Hainan and other 10 provinces (autonomous regions) after the launching ceremony to carry out one-year legal aid work.
Since the implementation of the “1+1” China Legal Aid Volunteer Program in 2009, Beijing has sent more than 220 volunteer lawyers to the central and western regions for 15 consecutive years. The “1+1” China Legal Aid Volunteer Action has become a brand name for legal aid work that safeguards the legitimate rights and interests of the people in difficulty and puts into practice the purpose of justice for the people.
