From October 19 to 20, 2024, an advanced training course for legal aid lawyers on death penalty review was held in Beijing by the Ministry of Justice, in which more than three hundred lawyers from all over the country participated. The lecturers included judges from the highest judicial organs, domestic famous forensic doctors, experts in physical evidence appraisal and senior criminal lawyers. This training is the second training activity organized by the Legal Aid Center of the Ministry of Justice for the legal aid lawyers of the national death penalty review. Mr. Tang Jianbin explained each key point of not imposing the death penalty in depth, and based on his own cases, he taught how to flexibly apply and reverse the spirit of the “Kunming Conference Minutes”, which helped the legal aid lawyers for death penalty review to open up their minds, find the reasons for not imposing the death penalty in a multi-dimensional and all-rounded way, and better persuade the judges to adopt the death penalty. and better persuade judges to adopt it.

Liu Ling is a member of the Criminal Committee of the All-China Lawyers' Association, and is also an expert in the evaluation of legal aid cases of the Ministry of Justice, and a member of the Business Advisory Committee of the Legal Aid Center of the Ministry of Justice, and has rich experience and typical cases in handling death penalty review cases.
