The highly publicized corruption case of the Chinese Football Association (CFA) has recently been pronounced in a number of cases. Among them, Dong Zheng was defended by Mr. Zhang Yanfeng, a senior partner of King&Capital Law Firm. Mr. Zhang met with Dong Zheng several times during the prosecution and trial stages, communicated with the procuratorial authorities and the People's Court, and actively searched for favorable evidence. on January 30, 2023, the first trial began, and the verdict was announced on March 26, 2024, when the Songzi Municipal People's Court found that Dong Zheng had accepted bribes of more than 22 million yuan, and sentenced him to eight years' imprisonment.

Born in 1979, Dong Zheng graduated from Beijing Foreign Studies University and, with an advantage in foreign languages, served as translator for former Chinese men's soccer head coach Ali Han, coordinator of the Chinese men's national team tournaments, as well as supervisor of FIFA and AFC tournaments, among other important positions.

Facts found by the court: from 2014 to 2021, Dong Zheng successively used the convenience of his positions as general manager of Ford Bao Company, general manager of the Chinese Super League Company, deputy general director of the Chinese Super League Suzhou Region, and deputy secretary-general of the Chinese League Tournament Committee to seek benefits for relevant organizations and illegally accept property.

According to the law, accepting bribes of more than 3 million RMB should be sentenced to more than 10 years' imprisonment or life imprisonment. The court mitigated Dong Zheng's punishment due to the mitigating circumstances of confession, meritorious conduct, guilty plea and active return of stolen goods.
