On March 30, 2024, the Academic Symposium on Legal Education and Cultivation of Legal Vocational Ability in the New Era and the Inaugural Meeting of the First Expert Teaching Steering Committee of Lawyers' College of Beijing Institute of Technology were held in Beijing, and Mr. D.S. Zang was appointed to serve as a committee member and make a keynote report.

The conference firstly announced the launch of Beijing Institute of Technology Lawyers College, and announced the appointment list of the first expert teaching steering committee of Beijing Institute of Technology Lawyers College. Mr. Zang Desheng of Beijing King&Capital Law Firm was appointed as a member of the committee and accepted the appointment letter at the conference.
In the “Symposium on Legal Education and Cultivation of Legal Vocational Ability in the New Era”, Mr. Zang Desheng made a keynote speech on the topic of “Cultivation of Applied Legal Talents from the Difference in the Way of Thinking between Lawyers and Judges”.
Combined with his own work experience, Mr. Zang shared the different experiences of criminal trial work in court and criminal defense work, analyzed the reasons for the differences in understanding and even the professional gap between lawyers and judges, and pointed out that lawyers and judges share the same professional foundation, and need to solve the problems of factual determination and application of the law, and need to go back and forth between the norms and the facts.
From the viewpoint of the goal of cultivating applied legal talents, it is necessary to focus on developing research ability, cultivating the ability to handle cases, and forming professional character, and it is necessary to emphasize both experience and logic.
In terms of content, it should focus on cultivating writing ability, research and judgment ability, communication ability, professional sentiment and will quality, which can be strengthened through various channels such as theoretical teaching, practical teaching and vocational training.
