From November 9 to 10, 2024, the 2024 Annual Academic Conference of the Chinese Society of Criminal Procedure Law and the Third Meeting of the Third Council were grandly opened in Changsha, Hunan Province. This annual conference was organized by the China Criminal Procedure Law Research Society and hosted by Hunan University Law School. King&Capital Law Firm's senior partner, director of the Kyoto Criminal Defense Research Center, Ms. Alice Liang, and partner Mr. Wang Jiaming were invited to participate in the meeting, and Ms. Alice Liang was elected as a director of the China Society of Criminal Procedure Law Research at the third meeting of the Council.

Opening Ceremony
Chen Xunqiu, executive vice president of China Law Society, attended the opening ceremony and made a speech, Jing Dali, president of China Criminal Procedure Law Research Society, made an opening speech, Li Yong, member of the party group of the Supreme People's Court and vice president, Ge Xiaoyan, member of the party group of the Supreme People's Procuratorate and deputy procurator general, and Deng Wei, secretary of the Party committee of Hunan University, attended the opening ceremony and made a speech.

Prof. Zang Tiewei, Vice President of China Society of Criminal Procedure Law and Director of the Office of the Legal Working Committee of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, presided over the conference.
Parallel Topics Seminar
On the afternoon of November 10, the third meeting of the Council of the Chinese Society of Criminal Procedure Law was held, chaired by Wang Xiaodong, vice president of the Society, and Jing Dali, president of the Society, made a report on the work of the Council for the year 2024. The third meeting of the council voted and passed the personnel matters, among which, Liang Yali, senior partner of King&Capital Law Firm and director of Kyoto Criminal Defense Research Center, was elected as a director of China Criminal Procedure Law Research Society.

This annual conference centered on the general topic of “Implementing the Spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and Improving the Criminal Procedure Law System”, which was divided into “General Provisions of the Criminal Procedure Law and General Problems”, “Criminal Filing and Investigation Procedures and Systems”, “Public Prosecution”, “Criminal Procedures and Systems”, and “Criminal Procedures and Systems”. The general topic “General provisions of the Criminal Procedure Law and general issues” was divided into five parallel topics, namely “Criminal filing and investigation procedures and systems”, “Public prosecution procedures and systems”, “Criminal trial procedures and systems”, “Criminal execution procedures and systems, special procedures and systems and other issues”. “Five parallel topics for in-depth exchanges and discussions.
