Released on:2025-06-25

Recently, Chinese student G was criminally charged by Australian police for alleged violent crimes in Australia. The family entrusted Chen Xu, a lawyer from our firm, to handle the case. Chen Xu immediately contacted the courtroom lawyer team at Australian law firm EXC on behalf of the client and discussed the nature of the case with the Australian side.

Chen Xu argued that, based on the principle of personal jurisdiction in Chinese criminal law, the Chinese student's actions did not constitute a crime under Chinese criminal law. The Australian legal team argued that under Australia's Domestic Violence Act and relevant criminal laws, while the Chinese student was likely to be convicted by the police and could even face the risk of imprisonment, by thoroughly analyzing the prosecution's evidence, weakening the key points of the violence-related charges in the case, and engaging in targeted negotiations with the police, it was possible to minimize criminal risks and achieve the likelihood of dismissal and an acquittal in court.

Ultimately, after two court hearings, the criminal charges were successfully dismissed by the Australian local court under the efficient not-guilty defense strategy of the Australian legal team, and the Chinese student was acquitted. His visa and studies will not be affected in any way.
