On September 26, 2025, the opening ceremony for the 2025-2026 academic year of the Law Clinic of the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (UCSSS) was successfully held. Prof. Mo Jihong, member of the Academic Council of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and Dean of the Law School of the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (UCSS), delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.
The opening ceremony was hosted by Mr. Zhang Shuo, deputy director of LLM Center and head of legal clinic program of University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and more than ten lecturers of criminal clinic, civil clinic and commercial clinic were invited to participate in this opening ceremony. Mr. Jun Xia, senior partner of King&Capital Law Firm, was invited to participate in this activity as a lecturer of Criminal Law Clinic and Mr. Changsha, partner, was invited to participate in this activity as a lecturer of Civil Law Clinic.
Prof. Mok Jihong was the first to deliver an opening speech for the opening ceremony, expressing his gratitude to the teachers of the legal clinic for their presence. Prof. Mok Jihong said that the success of the previous legal clinics could not be achieved without the full support of the outstanding teachers in various fields. He instructed the students to take the courses of the legal clinic seriously and to live up to the hard work of the teachers and hoped that in the legal clinic, the students would not only learn the legal skills from the teachers, but also cultivate a high morality and character, stick to the rationality and the bottom line, and train themselves to become qualified legal persons.
After Prof. Mok Jihong finished his speech, the host, Mr. Zhang Shuo, asked Mr. Yang Dongsheng, Mr. Wan Daqiang, and Mr. Zhang Kefeng to speak as representatives and introduce the learning of law clinic related courses to the students. After that, we entered the awards ceremony, in which Mr. Liu Zhimin, Mr. Han Snap, and Mr. Gao Congsong read out the list of outstanding students of the Commercial, Civil, and Criminal classes in the academic year of 2024-2025, and the audience applauded warmly to congratulate the award-winning students.
After the award ceremony, all the lecturers of the Law Clinic made speeches to express their expectations for the students.
Mr. Xia Jun
In his speech, Mr. Xia Jun firstly expressed his deep sense of honor and responsibility to be the teacher of “Social Sciences LLM” Legal Clinic of the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (UCASS), and looked forward to enhancing communication and exchanges with the LLM students, and to spending a good time studying together. At the same time, Mr. Xia Jun also explained the unique value of the legal clinic: “The legal clinic is a bridge connecting the school and the society, and through the legal clinic course, it can not only deepen the depth of the students' legal knowledge, but also broaden the breadth of the students' practical knowledge.” Mr. Xia Jun quoted the maxim “law is the art of justice and kindness” to encourage the students, and sent the students in the process of learning, not only to continue to improve the legal knowledge and practical skills, but also to always adhere to the rule of law, and always keep the pursuit of “justice and kindness”. The pursuit of “justice and kindness”. This both practical insight and humanistic temperature of the speech, triggered the guests and students of the strong resonance, the scene applause.
Mr. Changsha
Mr. Changsha firstly welcomed the newly enrolled students and expressed her expectation for the LLM in Social Sciences Law Clinic in the current academic year. At the same time, Ms. Changsha briefly introduced the content and cultivation purpose of the civil clinic course, and hoped that students could actively choose the appropriate legal clinic according to their future professional planning. Finally, Ms. Changsha expressed her gratitude to the leaders and teachers of LLM in Social Sciences for their dedication to the teaching of law clinic for many years, and issued an invitation to the new students, promising to enhance the communication and common progress in the teaching activities in this academic year.
The success of this opening ceremony officially marked the full launch of the teaching work of “LLM in Social Sciences” law clinic in the academic year of 2025-2026. In the warm applause of the students, the opening ceremony came to a successful end, which also opened a new chapter for the orderly promotion of the legal clinic practice teaching in the new academic year.
Mr. Xia Jun and Mr. Changsha will seriously perform their duties in the next legal clinic teaching, focusing on practical skills and teaching, helping students to improve their legal thinking, mastering professional skills, and empowering them for their future career development.
