On January 23, 2026, Mr. Zang Desheng was invited by the Training Department of the Chinese Society of Behavioral Law to give a lecture on “Bribery and Corruption in Private Enterprises: Difficulties and Countermeasures in the Defense of Criminal Cases” for the “Advanced Seminar on Criminal Defense Legal Practice under the Perspective of the Eight Criminal Law Conferences”, Difficulties and Countermeasures in Defense of Bribery and Corruption Cases Involving Private Enterprises".
At present, China's criminal justice practice is in a critical period of profound change and rapid development. The Eighth National Criminal Trial Work Conference systematically summarized the experience of criminal trial work in the new era, clarified the case orientation of “adhering to the rule of law and judicial justice”, and put forward more precise practical requirements for the basic principles of adjudication by evidence, acceptance of crimes on the basis of suspicion, and leniency and mutual assistance. In order to help the majority of criminal defense lawyers, corporate legal affairs and related legal workers to update their knowledge system, improve their defense skills and cope with the new challenges of practice, the Training Department of the Chinese Society of Behavioral Laws has organized this advanced seminar.
With the theme of “Difficulties and Countermeasures in the Defense of Bribery and Corruption Cases Involving Private Enterprises”, Mr. Zang Desheng lectured on the jurisdictional issues in cases of functional crimes, difficult issues in the defense of cases of active and passive bribery, demarcation between individual and unit bribery, recovery of property involved in the case and the penalty of fines, common sentencing scenarios in cases of functional crimes, and the new offence of breach of trust added to the Amendment XII to the Criminal Law. XII) of the Criminal Law, the determination of the new crime of breach of trust and other six hot issues, and interacted with the participants, answering questions on issues of concern.
