Attorney Weng Xiaoping was invited to attend the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice
Released on:2026-10-27

Recently, the 15th Session of the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, authorized by the United Nations General Assembly and organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), was held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center in the United Arab Emirates. The session is held every five years, and this year’s theme was “Protecting People and the Planet in the Digital Age.” Attorney Weng Xiaoping, a senior partner at Beijing King&Capital Law Firm, was invited by the Institute of Criminal Law and Science (CCLS) at Beijing Normal University to join a delegation to Abu Dhabi and participate in the entire conference, where he discussed approaches to global crime governance in the digital age with experts, scholars, and practitioners from around the world.

The core topics of this conference align closely with the professional focus that Attorney Weng Xiaoping has long maintained. From evidence-based policies, legal aid, restorative justice, and cyber fraud to crimes related to artificial intelligence and environmental crimes, these issues represent not only pressing global challenges but also key concerns that King&Capital Law Firm frequently encounters in its frontline work defending major and complex criminal cases and advising on corporate compliance. During the conference, drawing on his frontline experience handling cases involving cybercrime, white-collar crime, and financial and securities crimes, Attorney Weng Xiaoping focused on cutting-edge topics such as the examination and admissibility of electronic evidence, the regulatory boundaries of AI-related crimes, and international anti-corruption governance.

As a defense attorney with extensive frontline experience, Weng Xiaoping has consistently maintained a keen theoretical awareness of hot-button issues in criminal practice; as a Ph.D. in criminal law, he also excels at drawing on an international perspective to inform defense strategies and compliance solutions. Today, as cross-border crime becomes increasingly “smart” and “digital,” new forms of crime—such as fraud parks, dark web transactions, and cryptocurrency money laundering—are emerging constantly, placing greater demands on defense attorneys to possess an international perspective and practical skills across legal jurisdictions. Attorney Weng Xiaoping’s participation in this conference as part of the delegation from the School of Criminal Justice at Beijing Normal University is a vivid example of how he has long integrated his academic background with practical experience and incorporated global governance trends into individual defense cases.

In recent years, King&Capital Law Firm has continued to deepen its expertise in the fields of criminal defense and corporate compliance, consistently focusing on the evolution of criminal patterns in the digital age and the cutting edge of regulation. The firm’s invitation to participate in the United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice—a prominent international forum—not only demonstrates King&Capital’s broad international perspective and solid professional foundation but also provides international support for the firm’s service upgrades in areas such as cross-border criminal practice, cybercrime defense, and corporate compliance development. King&Capital Law Firm will continue to leverage its professional strengths in criminal defense and corporate compliance to provide comprehensive and professional legal services that help enterprises mitigate criminal legal risks and maintain sound, compliant operations, while safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of clients in a complex and ever-changing legal environment.
