On August 6, 2012, the China-Africa Industrial Forum and King and Capital signed the "African Legal Affairs Cooperation Framework Agreement” in Beijing. This agreement marks the planned opening of the first “African Legal Affairs Center” in the whole of China, which aims to provide professional legal support for Sino-African trade, investment and business, as well as providing legal services for Africans in China.

According to the Fifth FOCAC Ministerial Conference, which ended in July in Beijing, trade and cooperation between China and Africa has become increasingly close. By the end of 2007, China had assisted Africa in more than 800 projects, built over 2000 kilometers of railroads, and over 3000 kilometers of highways. In 2011, the trade volume between China and Africa hit an historical high of $166,300,000,000, an increase of more than 30% compared to the same period during the previous year. By the end of 2011, Chinese investors had invested in over 2000 enterprises in Africa.

A large number of legal issues can be expected to arise from these increasingly frequent business contacts and investments. The China-Africa Industrial Forum was set up in 2008 under the direction of the State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council and supported by the Chinese-African People's Friendship Association and other interested parties. After more than four years, the China Africa Industrial Forum has become influential in the field of industrial cooperation between China and Africa, and has won a high reputation among governments, enterprises, and society in China and Africa. The forum has a close relationship with African embassies, and has built up a wide range of contacts in the field of economics and trade between China and Africa.

King and Capital is a comprehensive law firm with long experience of legal business in China. It has acquired a high reputation for dealing with difficult and complicated cases. King and Capital lawyers are not only familiar with the Chinese legal system, but also capable of dealing with international legal affairs. International investment, especially investment in Africa, is an important focus for the firm.

The first “African Legal Affairs Center” in China will bring together the skills and expertise of influential participants in the areas of politics, economics and trade between China and Africa and the international and domestic legal field in order to provide thorough and well-researched legal services for individuals, businesses and other organizations in China and Africa.

In addition, the China Africa Industrial Forum and King and Capital will jointly organize and hold training classes, forums, seminars, training courses, lectures and other activities focusing on the investment law of African countries.
