On September 17, 2015, King and Capital warmly received an official visit from Dr. Tom Zwart, Dean of the Netherlands Institute of Human Rights (SIM) and Professor of the Utrecht University School of Law, Qiao Congrui, a PhD candidate also from Utrecht University and Kuang Yi of the Discipline, Inspection and Supervision Office of Anbang Insurance Group.

Dr. Zwart took this opportunity to update our firm on the progress being made on human rights protection and information disclosure in the Netherlands. He also outlined the recently initiated “Speak for the Innocents” program, while Kuang Yi introduced the human rights protection measures accorded foreigners accused of committing a crime in China. King and Capital lawyers, Li Bin and Chu Yi also explained the responsibilities of Chinese lawyers for human rights protection in judicial proceedings during the current anti-corruption environment.

There was a candid and productive exchange of views and the meeting concluded with the group declaring that they would continue to fight for better human rights protection.
