On the afternoon of July 28, 2022, Beijing Lawyers Association Foreign Legal Services Research Institute held the second lecture of the series of training on "Foreign-related Dispute Resolution Topics" - "Analysis of Core Processes of International Arbitration". The training was conducted online, attended by Li Kai, Deputy Secretary General of the Municipal Lawyers Association, and hosted by Wang Xinlong, Secretary General of the Research Association of Foreign-related Legal Services.

Mr. Dong xiao, member of Municipal Lawyers Association Arbitration Law Committee and partner of Beijing Junhe Law Firm, Mr. Zhao huili, member of Municipal Lawyers Association Foreign Legal Service Research Committee and partner of Beijing Junhe Law Firm, and Mr. Wang Haocheng, Deputy Secretary General of China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) Hong Kong Arbitration Center and General Counsel of China Maritime Arbitration Commission (CMAC) Hong Kong Arbitration Center, as the guest speakers, discussed the core procedures of international arbitration in the form of a roundtable. Mr. Wang Haocheng, Deputy Secretary General of CIETAC Hong Kong Arbitration Center and General Counsel of CMAC Hong Kong Arbitration Center, as the keynote speaker, had a roundtable discussion on the core process of international arbitration.

From the perspectives of arbitration institutions, arbitrators and attorneys-at-law, the three speakers put forward the problems and solutions that are likely to arise in practice with respect to the four core processes of international arbitration, namely, the commencement of international arbitration proceedings, the composition of the arbitral tribunal, the formulation and administration of arbitration proceedings, and the rendering of arbitral awards. Combined with their rich practical experience, the guest speakers gave a lot of practical and effective suggestions.

During the training, the three speakers focused on the formation of a team of lawyers in international arbitration cases, the role of Chinese lawyers in international arbitration cases, matters to be considered in the selection of arbitrators, factors to be considered by an arbitration institution in the appointment of an arbitrator, conflict of interest of an arbitrator and the handling of challenges to an arbitrator, how the parties can participate in the development and management of arbitration procedures, the process of making arbitral awards, and the work of arbitration institutions in the checking of awards, and other contents. The topics were shared and analyzed brilliantly.

The maximum number of people online at the same time during the live online training was nearly 1,000 people. The training lectures were full of content, and the three speakers brought a wonderful training program for foreign lawyers with solid business ability, diversified practical perspectives, and vivid style of explanation.
