On March 24, 2023, the 10th "King&Capital Cup" Criminal Mock Trial Competition training session was held in Changping Campus of China University of Political Science and Law. Prosecutor Li Nan from Beijing Changping District People's Procuratorate and Lawyer Zhang Qiming, senior partner of Beijing King&Capital Law Firm, were invited as the guest speakers to give a comprehensive and detailed training on courtroom defense skills and paperwork writing to more than 300 students of China University of Political Science and Law.
Assistant Prosecutor Tian Bo
Assistant Prosecutor Tian Bo explained in detail the specifications, characteristics and structure of indictment, and showed a sample indictment, which combined the narrative, objectivity and standardization of indictment, and gave the students a deeper understanding of indictment.
Prosecutor Li Nan
Prosecutor Li Nan shared her experience as a public prosecutor and the trial from the perspective of a public prosecutor. She described in detail the various aspects of the trial. During the trial, the public prosecutor should pay attention to predicting the defense's viewpoints, the language of the trial defense should be calm and rational, the public prosecutor needs to make simple records and organize during the trial, and at the same time, the public prosecutor needs to pay attention to the key points of the defense that are directly related to the conviction and sentencing.
Mr. Zhang Qiming
Mr. Zhang Qiming shared his views on legal documents and court defense skills. Starting from cases, Mr. Zhang Qiming explained the stages of court interrogation and evidence presentation in a criminal trial, and encouraged students to practice the ability to objectively view facts, the ability to dismantle complex events, and the ability to switch thinking. Mr. Zhang Qiming gave vivid examples and quotes, emphasizing the importance of using multiple ways of thinking and debating, and sharing many practical skills based on his own experience.
