On April 12, 2023, invited by Professor Bian Yongmin, Vice Dean of the Law School of the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), Mr. Zhang Libin, Managing Partner of the foreign-related practice of King&Capital, gave a lecture on "Energy Dispute Settlement for Chinese Enterprises in Overseas Countries" to the students at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE).
In this lecture, Mr. Zhang Libin summarized and shared his more than 20 years of experience in foreign-related dispute resolution practice, and combined with the procedural and substantive legal issues of international commercial arbitration, he conducted in-depth communication with the students from the perspective of lawyers and arbitrators. In the course of the lecture, Mr. Zhang Libin quoted from various sources and showed his profound accumulation in the legal practice of the whole industry chain of traditional energy and new energy, and brought the students vivid case explanations outside the textbooks, which aroused the resonance of the students, who were fully concentrated and actively interacted with Mr. Zhang Libin. Mr. Zhang pointed out that the excellent lawyer's career shaping comes from constantly facing all kinds of challenges and practice, in the field of foreign law, more need to rich practical experience and keen insight. At the same time, lawyers also need to have good communication skills and teamwork spirit to cooperate with clients and other lawyers to solve problems together. The experience of legal practice will quickly shorten the gap between theoretical education in law school and practical work of lawyers.
Prof. Yongmin Bian is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the Law School of the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), and vice dean of the Law School. He received a Postgraduate Certificate in International Law and Sustainable Development Organization from Erasmus University in the Netherlands, and was a visiting scholar at Cambridge University, Georgetown University and St. Thomas University. He was a member of the Committee on Sustainable Natural Resource Management of the International Law Association (2015-2019), a Visiting Fellow of the Center for International Sustainable Development Law (Canada), an Executive Director of the Beijing International Law Research Society, and a Director of the Chinese Society of International Law.
