Prof. Chen Weidong pointed out that Prof. Xiangde and I have a deep friendship, and we have been communicating together since he was a teacher at the police academy and later became a lawyer. When he was a lawyer, he was an outstanding criminal defense lawyer. When he did legal research, he was fruitful. He has been writing for a long time, although he switched several positions. The book Eight Doctrines of Criminal Defense is a comprehensive study of the lawyer system, the prosecution system, and the structure of prosecution, defense, and trial, with his eight doctrines of defense as the main line. Through these, it reflects the difficult development of Chinese lawyers and the achievements we have made over the years.
Tian Wenchang
Consultant of Criminal Committee of All-China Lawyers Association, Honorary Director of King&Capital Law Firm, Honorary President of Advanced Institute of Criminal Defense of Northwestern University of Political Science and Law, Doctoral Supervisor
According to Prof. Tian Wenchang, Prof. Xiangde's every turn is magnificent, from police officer to teacher, then to lawyer, then to prosecutor, then to teacher-scholar, then to Fangzhi scholar and publisher, he is a multi-faceted person. So many times of magnificent turn, he has not forgotten the original intention, did not change his continued attention to criminal defense and research, can be described as obsessed. Everyone attending this event today is obsessed with criminal defense, but also with the rule of law. The construction of the rule of law since the reform and opening up, there are fast and slow, we need a group of people who are obsessed with the pursuit of the rule of law, through the rule of law obsession, to make as much as possible contribution to the rule of law in China.

Appointment Ceremony of Expert Consultants and Researchers of the Institute for the Prevention and Correction of Wrongful and False Cases
There were four units of seminars in the meeting.
Unit 1
The first module was moderated by Gao Shan, deputy editor-in-chief and deputy editor of Contemporary China Publishing House.
Tian Wenchang, consultant of the Criminal Professional Committee of the All-China Lawyers' Association, honorary director of King&Capital Law Firm, honorary director of the Advanced Institute of Criminal Defense of Northwestern University of Political Science and Law, and doctoral supervisor, recalled his own growth course and the growth course of China's criminal defense lawyers. Tian Wenchang said, China's old generation of criminal defense lawyers is touching the stage, now we have to advocate the specialization of criminal defense, to train professional criminal defense lawyers. It is necessary to advocate not to do empty learning, to change the concept of teachers, and then change the concept of our students.
Xie Youping, a professor and doctoral supervisor at Hunan University Law School, and vice president of the Chinese Society of Criminal Procedure Law, said that he has always been fascinated by the defense system. The question of how to protect the weak when comparing the individual to the state, in the spirit of compassion that every human being has, deserves attention.
Hou Fengmei, chief partner of Hebei Hou Fengmei Law Firm, gave her insights on the specialization of criminal defense, the current situation and prospects of criminal defense, and what criminal defense lawyers can do to be successful. She believes that income is not success, and how many acquittals we have handled is not a sign of success, we need to summarize our experience in handling cases, participate more in legislation, and respond to our opinions through various channels, these are the greatest significance of life, and life with no regrets, that's what makes us successful.
Professor Yang Kaixiang, professor and doctoral supervisor of the Law School of Central South University, talked about specific issues from the perspective of the four dimensions of the prosecution-defense relationship, i.e., prosecution-defense legal, confrontation, equality, and negotiation, in conjunction with the Eight Doctrines of Criminal Defense.
Module 2
The second module was moderated by Liu Wenke, Director of Rule of Law Branch of Contemporary China Publishing House and Deputy Editor.
Li Guifang, Advisor of Criminal Professional Committee of All China Lawyers Association, Deputy Director and Global Partner of Beijing Deheng Law Firm, and Adjunct Professor of Law School of Jilin University, said that The Eight Doctrines of Criminal Defense is an accumulation of results, and Prof. Xiangde is very diligent, which is the result of continuity. Director Li Guifang next put forward his views on the modernization of criminal defense from the perspectives of barrel theory, equality between prosecution and defense, consultation between prosecution and defense, and effective defense.
Hu Ming, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Dean of Guanghua Law School of Zhejiang University, Distinguished Professor of Zhejiang University, Doctoral Supervisor, Vice President of China Criminal Procedure Law Research Association and Director of Criminal Defense Committee, talked about two "three difficulties". Prof. Hu Ming believes that scholars write books and say, easy to write books, say difficult. Professor Xiangde eight doctrines, very powerful. When the lawyer, when the teacher, when good hard, Professor Xiangde did. Role transformation is relatively easy, not forgetting the beginning is difficult, Prof. Xiangde not forgetting the beginning, this is the first three difficult. Criminal defense is difficult, I want to say that the theoretical breakthrough in criminal defense is difficult. There are more complaints and less theoretical penetration. But we need more studies with theoretical penetration. It's hard to get a deep fit between theory and practice in criminal defense. Although the relationship between scholars and lawyers is very good, there are not many results of the deep fit between theory and practice. The Criminal Defense Committee of the Institute of Criminal Procedure Law hopes to build a platform for such a fit. Thirdly, it is difficult to make an influential voice.
Wang Feiyue, dean, professor and doctoral supervisor of the School of Politics and Law of Central South University of Forestry Science and Technology, said that the modernization of the rule of law in Chinese style is not only a matter of no one has what he has, but also a matter of scientific legislation, strict enforcement of the law, fair administration of justice, and compliance with the law by all people, and that it is a matter of uncovering and researching deeper problems in the issue of fair administration of justice.
Kan Jifeng, Director of Shandong Seeking New Law Firm and Deputy Director of Criminal Prosecution Committee of Shandong Law Association, talked about the protection of the rights of the clients from the concept, legislation and practice of criminal defense in the light of the Eight Doctrines of Criminal Defense by Professor Ji Xiangde.
Module 3
The third module was moderated by Wang Xueqiang, Director and Senior Partner of Beijing Longview Law Firm.
Zhou Changjun, professor and doctoral supervisor, dean of Shandong University Law School, pointed out that criminal defense is a very important part in the process of Chinese-style modernization. Professor Jixiangde's wooden barrel doctrine suggests that the analogy of criminal defense as a weak link in the rule of law is apt. Criminal defense is undoubtedly very important in terms of the effectiveness and adequacy of rights protection, safeguarding citizens' dignity and rights relief.
Sun Yuan, a professor and doctoral supervisor at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, believes that based on his understanding of Prof. Jixiangde, this book is not simply written in the study, but "line" out, not only condenses the author's wisdom, but also condenses the author's sweat, blood, and even tears. Combined with the eight doctrines, Prof. Sun Yuan discusses the status of the defender theoretically.
Lawyer Yang Shuying, director of Beijing Zhuanghe Law Firm and consultant of Silk Road International Capacity Promotion Center, believes that the Eight Doctrines of Criminal Defense provide an important theoretical basis for realizing the equal rights of lawyers from macroscopic to microcosmic and from appearance to content. Prof. Jixiangde once said that lawyers are the engineers of social justice, and we are practicing this. After so many years of cultivation, we continue to fall down and get up, accumulate experience and improve our cognition, which is the most valuable point for criminal defense lawyers. Criminal defense is not just about technical work, but about values and broad-minded vision. It is about making a living, making wisdom, and then making a way.
Liao Xin, senior partner of Guangdong Jinqiao & Baixin Law Firm and honorary director of the Research Center for Major and Difficult Cases, said that he and Prof. Jixiangde share the same experience as public security and lawyers. Although many lawyers complained that their work is not easy, they still enjoy it. Lawyer Liao Xin believes that criminal defense should pay attention to details and promote three-dimensional defense.

According to Liu Chenqi, assistant researcher at the Institute of Law, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, I had the honor of witnessing the course of Mr. Ji's eight doctrines. Mr. Ji put forward a basic direction for criminal proceedings in China, which is to make the simple simpler and the complicated more complicated.
