Chong'an, located in the northwest of Fujian Province, was the first county-level Soviet government in the Northern Fujian Soviet Area as early as during the period of the Land Revolutionary War. Fang Zhimin led the Red 10th Army Corps into Fujian twice, conquered important towns such as Pucheng, Chishi, Xingcun, Shitang, etc., opened up the connection between northern Fujian and northeastern Gan, and established the Fujian-Ganxi Border Red Bases, which is 800 miles long in Wuyi Mountain. Today, in Wuyi Mountain, you can still see the Lenin Park named by Fang Zhimin when he was the chairman of the Northeast Gan Provincial Soviet Government.
In 1958, in order to commemorate the martyrs who sacrificed their precious lives in the revolutionary struggle, the CPC Nanping Local Committee built a monument to the Northern Fujian Revolutionary Martyrs in Lenin Park, and the Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Zhu De, inscribed the monument with his own handwriting: “Revolutionary Martyrs Forever Immortal”.

Listening attentively to the magnificent and arduous struggle of the revolutionary martyrs, and understanding the special historical status and contribution of the revolutionary base in northern Fujian, we could not help but be overwhelmed with emotion and deeply feel that the fruits of the revolution were not easy to come by.
