Recently, as a member of the inaugural Expert Advisory Committee of the Honggu District People’s Procuratorate in Lanzhou, Attorney Qi Xiaoling, a senior partner at King&Capital Law Firm, accepted a cordial invitation from the Honggu District People’s Procuratorate to deliver a lecture on the topic of “Evidence Standards and Practical Control in Criminal Cases” at a special “Joint Training for Public Security and Procuratorial Authorities” session organized by the procuratorate. The session aimed to jointly enhance the quality and efficiency of criminal case handling. The session was attended by criminal prosecution officers from the Honggu District People’s Procuratorate and relevant officers from the Honggu Branch of the Lanzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau.
Drawing on typical cases she has handled, Attorney Qi Xiaoling provided a detailed analysis of evidence review in criminal cases, covering aspects such as the logical correlation between evidence and facts, the legality and authenticity of evidence, and the consistency among pieces of evidence as well as between evidence and facts. She specifically addressed practical details in handling criminal cases and advised prosecutors and police officers to conduct investigations and review and analyze evidence from multiple angles during the case-handling process to meet the strict evidence standards required by the trial-centered system.
Following the lecture, attendees unanimously praised Attorney Qi Xiaoling’s presentation for its practicality, precision, and strong guidance. They noted that it provided law enforcement and procuratorial personnel with new perspectives and angles for case handling, effectively broadening their approach to case management and enhancing their professional capabilities; They also pledged to translate what they had learned into concrete actions to improve the quality and efficiency of case handling, striving for greater precision and standardization in evidence review, fact-finding, and legal application, and working to ensure that the public feels fairness and justice in every judicial case.
