On April 25–26, 2026, the 2026 Ji’an City Continuing Education Training for Practicing Lawyers and the 11th Luling Lawyers’ Lecture Series, jointly organized by the Ji’an City Bureau of Justice, the Law Society, and the Lawyers’ Association of Jiangxi Province, were successfully held. Attorney Liang Yali, Senior Partner at the King&Capital Law Firm and Director of the King&Capital Criminal Defense Research Center, was invited as the keynote speaker. She delivered a specialized practical training session focused on core professional skills for lawyers, offering a compelling presentation that combined professionalism, practicality, and regulatory standards for attorneys across the city.

This training aimed to further strengthen the political development of the legal profession, comprehensively enhance professional competence and expertise, and promote the high-quality development of the legal industry in Ji’an. Under the theme “Practical Training on Client Retention, Client Meetings, and Courtroom Cross-Examination Skills,” Attorney Liang Yali focused on three critical stages in the entire case handling process: client intake, client meetings, and courtroom cross-examination. She systematically explained theoretical principles, practical techniques, and professional standards, with content precisely tailored to case handling needs and highly practical in nature.

Regarding the client consultation phase, Attorney Liang Yali emphasized that building a relationship of trust with clients is the foundation of professional ethics and a crucial prerequisite for case handling. Drawing on her extensive practical experience, she thoroughly analyzed common challenges and response strategies encountered during consultations. She advocated for lawyers to uphold professional integrity, deepen their expertise, and engage in continuous learning, thereby charting a course for establishing healthy and efficient client-attorney relationships.

Regarding the practical aspects of criminal client visits, Attorney Liang Yali pointed out that the right to visit clients is a core component of the right to defense and a key mechanism for safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of clients. She systematically reviewed the historical development of the visitation system, provided an in-depth interpretation of the underlying principles and practical challenges of visitation work, and shared practical methods for conducting visits in accordance with the law, facilitating efficient communication, and mitigating professional risks, thereby strengthening the foundational aspects of criminal defense for the participating attorneys.

In the session on courtroom questioning, Attorney Liang Yali focused on the functional role and core objectives of questioning during trials. Drawing on real-life cases, she meticulously explained key principles such as the relevance rule and the prohibition against leading questions. By analyzing practical case studies, she broke down the logic and techniques of questioning, helping lawyers enhance their abilities in fact-finding, evidence verification, and maintaining a balance between prosecution and defense, thereby effectively strengthening the effectiveness of courtroom defense.
