At the invitation of Professor Chen Ruihua of Beijing University, Han Jiayi of our law firm visited Hong Kong from December 7 to 11, 2009 to investigate the criminal justice system and criminal defense law. Professor Li Wei of China Youth University for Political Sciences, Professor Min Chunlei of Jilin University, and other criminal defense lawyers also attended this activity.

During their five day visit, the representatives learned about the criminal judicial system of Hong Kong, trial procedures in Hong Kong courts, the lawyers association of Hong Kong, evidence law, the witness system, and the remedy procedures of Hong Kong. Through this activity, the investigators learnt the difference between the justice systems of mainland China and Hong Kong, and their outlook and thought were extended. This was a good foundation for the development of legal communication between the mainland and Hong Kong.
