On November 17, 2011, the case of Zeng Hanlin was tried in Chengdu intermediate court. King and Capital’s Yang Zhaodong and Zhu Yalin conducted the defense. The prosecution accused Zeng Hanlin of contract fraud in the amount of sixty million RMB, to which the defendant pleaded not guilty.

 

This high-profile case has attracted attention from around the world, and the verdict will influence overseas repatriation cases in future. It will also influence judicial cooperation between China and Canada, and the case is on further trial at present.

 

ZengHanlin, the former chairman of Guangdong Feilong group chairman, was once one of China’s the top ten most wanted suspects. On February 17, 2011, he was repatriated, and became the first man to be repatriated by the Canadian Government.
