May 8, 2012. Han Jiayi, Partner of King and Capital, has been retained by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese (hereinafter referred to as the Federation) as member of its Legal Advisers Committee.

The committee was established in May 1982, with Zhang Youyu, a distinguished lawyer, as its first director.

On May 8, the 30th anniversary meeting of the committee was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Sang Guowei, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of National People's Congrees (NPC) , Luo Haocai, Vice Chairman of the 10th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee came to the meeting to express their congratulations, and Chen Yujie, Deputy Director of the National People's Congress Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee, Lin Zhaoshu, Deputy Director of CPPCC Committee of Affairs of Overseas Chinese in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, Xu Yousheng, Deputy Director of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, and Cao Hongming, Secretary-General of the China Public Interest Party Central Committee attended the meeting.

Lin Jun, Chairman of the Federation, addressed the meeting and granted letters of appointment to the new additional domestic and overseas members of the Legal Advisers Committee.

Legal Advisers Committee of the Federation is a legal advisory institution established in accordance with the stipulation of the Constitution of the People's Republic of China that "the People's Republic of China protects the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese nationals residing abroad and protects the lawful rights and interests of returned overseas Chinese and of the family members of Chinese nationals residing abroad.” It consists of leaders, legal experts and lawyers. It aims to provide advice and assistance to the Federation in order to protect the legitimate rights and interests of overseas Chinese. Over the past 30 years, membership of the committee has increased from 13 to 122, with 89 domestic members and 33 overseas members.

King and Capital Partner Han Jiayi is also serving as Secretary-General of the Criminal Law Committee under the Chinese Lawyers’ Association.
