King and Capital Law Firm Becomes the Legal Counsel of International Network for Bamboo and Rattan

On April 23 2013, King and Capital Law Firm and International Network for Bamboo and Rattan concluded the Legal Counseling Agreement at the International Bamboo and Rattan Tower. Catherine Guo, Partner from King and Capital, is assigned to provide legal services for this project. Partner Gong Pi-guo and Attorney Wang lei also participated in the signing ceremony. The International Network for Bamboo and Rattan (INBAR), aimed at promoting the social, economic and environmental benefits of bamboo and rattan resources, is the only intergovernmental organization so far whose headquarters is located in China. INBAR connects a global network of partners from the government, private and non-profit sectors in over 50 countries. INBAR has 38 members, which include Argentina, Bangladesh, Benin, Bolivia, Cameroon, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Cuba, Ethiopia, Ecuador, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, Peru, Rwanda, Philippines, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Tanzania, Togo, Tonga, Uganda, Venezuela and Vietnam. The legal services to be provided for INBAR will include providing legal advice; drafting and reviewing contracts in Chinese and English; improving and standardizing the contract management system, employment system and other internal management systems; and assisting in training the legal staff and therefore improving the ability of legal risk prevention. 

Before the signing ceremony, Lawyers from King and Capital had a pleasant conversation with the Director General, Ms.J. Coosje Hoogendoorn, the Deputy Director General, Doctor Li Zhiyong, the Treasurer Judy Zhu, the Head of Membership Unit, Ms. Hao Ying, and the Senior Administrative Officer, Helen He. Catherine Guo said that by replacing the wood products with bamboo ware, INBAR has made a significant contribution to the protection of the environment, especially in mitigating deforestation, soil erosion and land degradation, and it is King and Capital’s honour to become the legal counsel for INBAR. Ms. J. Coosje Hoogendoorn also expressed her expectations of the further cooperation between King and Capital and INBAR.
