The past five years have been five years of vigorous development of China's environmental protection and continuous improvement of environmental quality. With the dual-carbon target rising as a national strategy, in order to cope with climate change and the development of green economy, and to promote the business exchanges of environmental lawyers, on December 15, 2023, "2023 Annual Lawyers' Visiting Activity and Environmental Business Sharing Meeting", which was sponsored by the Environmental Assets Committee of Chaoyang Law Association, and co-hosted by Beijing King&Capital Law Firm and Beijing Junwu Law Firm " was successfully held in King&Capital Firm.

The meeting was divided into four parts, namely opening speech, theme sharing, open exchange and discussion, and concluding remarks.

In the opening speech, Mr. Chu Changzhi, Managing Partner and CEO of King&Capital Law Firm, firstly expressed his warm welcome to the participants. Mr. Chu believed that the new era of legal services for ecological environmental protection constantly puts forward new demands and opens up new space. Important deployment and development requirements such as "establishing and improving the leadership responsibility system, credit system, laws and regulations and policy system of environmental governance, implementing the responsibilities of all kinds of main bodies, and improving the enthusiasm of market players and public participation" will undoubtedly provide a broader stage for environmental lawyers. He expects and wishes that all lawyers can rise to the challenge, defy the difficulties and dangers, bravely explore and welcome the harvest.

In the keynote sharing session, Mr. Li Bo, Director of Environmental Energy and Resource Law Research Center of King&Capital Law Firm, and Mr. Li Xiaobin, Director of Beijing Junwu Law Firm, made wonderful speeches respectively.

Mr. Li Bo's keynote speech was entitled "Six Elements for Lawyers to Understand when Entering ESG". He analyzed the issues that lawyers need to consider before entering into ESG from various aspects, such as the scope of clients in ESG business, clients' needs, exploration of lawyers' business, the current status of market competition, and opportunities for lawyers. He pointed out that although ESG is a promising emerging business field, not all lawyers are suitable for ESG business, and he hoped that all of them would fully consider various factors before entering into the business, and make concerted efforts to seek common development.

Keynote Speech by Mr. Li Bo from King&Capital

Lawyer Li Xiaobin's keynote speech was entitled "Defense Skills for Illegal Mining Crimes". Mr. Li Xiaobin told the audience in detail about the innocent defense of illegal mining crime, and demonstrated the five typical situations of illegal mining crime through a large number of judicial precedents. He pointed out that there are many circumstances and large space for the defense of illegal mining crime, and more professional mining lawyers need to deepen and specialize in defending the lawful rights and interests of their clients.

Mr. Li Xiaobin of Junwu Law Firm made a keynote speech.

In the exchange and discussion session, all the lawyers had a warm discussion on the content of the theme sharing, expressed their unique insights on environmental business, as well as the outlook and expectations for the future of environmental business.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Gai Tiemeng, the director of the Environmental Resources Committee of Chaoyang Law Association and the founding partner of Beijing Qiancheng Law Firm (Headquarter), made a concluding speech. Mr. Gai said that the meeting was held very successfully, and all the lawyers realized in-depth exchanges and gained a lot, and he expected that the committee would work together in the coming days and contribute more to the development of environmental business.
