Chaoyang Law Association's Research Society Organizes Annual Roundtable on Penal Breakdowns, with the Support of King&Capital

On the afternoon of November 6, 2024, the “Criminal and Bankruptcy Crossover Roundtable” was successfully held, which was co-sponsored by the Insolvency Liquidation and Merger & Acquisition and Restructuring Practice Research Committee and Criminal Practice Research Committee of Chaoyang District Lawyers' Association of Beijing, and co-organized by the Corporate and Compliance Department, Criminal Procedure Department I, and the Finance Department II of the King&Capital Law Firm. Vice President of Chaoyang District Bar Association Li Chaofeng, Han Qiang and Chang Junfeng, Vice Supervisor and Managing Partner of Finance Department II of King&Capital, Xiao Shuwei, Managing Partner of Corporate and Compliance Department of King&Capital, Sun Yanhui, Managing Partner of Criminal Procedure Department I of King&Capital, Liang Yali, as well as more than 30 members of the two committees participated in the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Bai Lu, Secretary General of the Insolvency Liquidation and M&A Reorganization Practice Study Group.


At the beginning of the event, Li Chaofeng, vice president of Chaoyang Law Association, firstly expressed his warm welcome to all the guests, saying that the roundtable dialog is dedicated to in-depth exchanges of difficult problems encountered in lawyers' practice, and is a new form of activity. Han Qiang, vice president of Chaoyang Law Association, said that participating in this research activity reflects the importance the association attaches to the work of each research association, and at the same time, he also hopes that the research association will organize a variety of professional exchange activities to promote the development of business. Mr. Chang Junfeng, Vice President of Chaoyang Law Association, mentioned that the “criminal and bankruptcy intersection” is a difficult issue for lawyers to practice in practice, and expressed his great anticipation for the discussion of all the guests and wished this roundtable dialog a complete success.


In the dialogue session, Sun Yanhui, Director of Chaoyang Law Association's Bankruptcy Liquidation and M&A Reorganization Study Group, Zhao Chunyu, Director of Criminal Practice Study Group, Liang Yali, Deputy Director of Criminal Practice Study Group, and a number of guest attorneys analyzed and put forward their ideas on how to deal with issues such as handling modes of criminal-busting intersection issues, conflicts and contradictions in the procedures, and the subordination of criminal reimbursement to claim settlement.


At the end of the meeting, Xiao Shuwei, Deputy Supervisor of Chaoyang Law Association, summarized his speech. He pointed out that the linkage between the committees is an innovation, and that this kind of interactive and dialogic exchange seminar can bring out the effect of “1+1>2”, enabling individuals to create greater value. He hoped that the two committees could organize more such exchanges in the future.
