From May 23rd to 25th, the twelfth round of King&Capital Criminal Defense Practical Training Workshop was held in Beijing. The workshop is held every 6 sessions, and this time, as the final course of the second round of the workshop, the content centered on the pre-trial conference and the exclusion of illegal evidence. Participants from Tibet, Guangdong and other parts of the country gathered together to explore the difficulties and misunderstandings in pre-trial meetings and exclusion of illegal evidence through immersive simulation exercises and small-class practical teaching under the guidance of the consultant team and lecturer team.

He introduced, King&Capital criminal defense practical training workshop using the Northwest University of Political Science and Law training model, after more than ten polishing and practice, has gradually formed a complete set of criminal defense training model. The course continues the four teaching characteristics of “no identity, no standard answer, high brainstorming and full sharing of resources”, and focuses on two major topics of pre-trial conference practice and illegal evidence exclusion through the immersive learning of “theoretical teaching, simulation exercise and real-time feedback”. Attorney Zang Desheng, who has had actual trial experience, talked about how a good refined defense may be the current way to break through for lawyers who focus on professionalism and skills, and that pre-trial conferences provide a wide space for refined defense, allowing criminal defense lawyers to be more productive.

“Illegal evidence exclusion is one of the few rights given to lawyers by the Criminal Procedure Law to conduct effective defense that has both defensive and offensive effects.” Lijie Liu, senior partner of King&Capital Law Firm, spoke as a representative of the lecturer group on the topic of illegal evidence exclusion. Liu Lijie compared the illegal evidence exclusion system to “borrowing arrows from a straw boat”, and encouraged the participants to use professionalism and wisdom to find the “source of the arrows”, and use courage and strength to counter the prosecution's “attack”. By the end of the twelfth session of King&Capital Criminal Defense Practical Training Seminar, King&Capital Criminal Defense Seminar has attracted the participation of hundreds of lawyers from many places in the country, and its practice of “small class teaching, problem-oriented” criminal defense practical training mode of Xifa University is profoundly affecting the construction of the professionalization of the skills of criminal lawyers in China.
At present, two rounds of King&Capital criminal defense practical training workshops have been completed, the first phase of the third round of “reception and meeting” will be held in July 2025, and welcome lawyers to continue to pay attention.
