Fang Chongyi, renowned jurist, Honorary Dean of the Institute of Procedural Law at China University of Political Science and Law, Professor, and Doctoral Supervisor, Tian Wenchang, Advisor to the Criminal Law Committee of the All-China Lawyers Association and Honorary Director of King&Capital Law Firm; Zhu Yonghui, Director of King&Capital Law Firm; Chu Changzhi, Managing Partner and CEO of King&Capital Law Firm; Du Yu, Senior Partner of King&Capital Law Firm and Director of King&Capital (Haikou) Law Firm; Yang Zhaodong, Senior Partner of King&Capital Law Firm and Director of the King&Capital Criminal Law Committee; and Hua Yang, Director of King&Capital (Dalian) Law Firm, attended the event. The event was presided over by Mr. Chu Changzhi. Dozens of local lawyers and client representatives from Haikou attended the grand ceremony.

In his opening remarks, Zhu Yonghui, Director of King&Capital  Law  Firm, extended a warm welcome and sincere gratitude to the guests and colleagues in attendance. Zhu elaborated on the core philosophy and development strategy of the King&Capital  Haikou Branch—integrating the headquarters and branch offices to build a boutique, specialized firm; establishing a foothold in Hainan while reaching out to the world; and providing legal support for the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port in alignment with King&Capital’s strategic legal service layout. He also expressed high hopes for the future development of the Kyoto Haikou Branch, urging all colleagues to unite their efforts and forge ahead with determination to build the branch into a regional benchmark for legal services that is compassionate, professional, and responsible.

Zhu Yonghui emphasized that, in the face of the grand blueprint for the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port and the significant opportunities presented by overlapping national strategies, King&Capital Law Firm must embark on a new chapter with a clearer positioning, more resolute steps, and a more collaborative approach.

Du Yu, Director of King&Capital (Haikou) Law Firm, took the stage to deliver a report. Drawing on current trends in the artificial intelligence industry, Du Yu shared the five-year plan and strategic layout for the King&Capital Haikou Branch. She emphasized that the branch will leverage King&Capital Law Firm’s 31 years of rich experience and strong reputation in legal services, integrate high-quality legal resources, focus on client needs, and align closely with the positioning of the Hainan Free Trade Port. The branch will drive development in three dimensions—specialization, teamwork, and internationalization—to deepen its expertise in distinctive legal service areas.

She emphasized that the first priority is to build a foundation of specialization by focusing on core areas such as cross-border investment and financing, international commercial arbitration, and offshore finance. The firm will establish a Free Trade Port Legal Practice Research Center, implement tiered professional development programs, cultivate a team of expert lawyers, and solidify the professional foundation of a boutique law firm. Second, the firm will foster team synergy by implementing a project-based team system, breaking down professional barriers, deepening coordination between the main office and branch offices, and refining collaborative incentive mechanisms to achieve efficient synergy and provide clients with integrated, end-to-end legal services; Finally, internationalization to expand horizons: attracting and cultivating high-caliber international talent, building international cooperation networks, benchmarking against world-class service standards, broadening service boundaries, and meeting the Free Trade Port’s demands for high-level opening-up.

At 9:58 a.m., the ribbon-cutting ceremony began. Holding golden scissors, the guests jointly cut the ribbon to mark the opening of the new Jingdu Haikou Branch. As the scissors fell, confetti burst forth and applause erupted, witnessing this significant moment for the Jingdu Haikou Branch. This moment serves as both a new beginning and a new journey, marking the official launch of a new chapter in legal services for the Jingdu Haikou Branch.

Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the guests engaged in a roundtable discussion with the lawyers. Professor Fan Chongyi spoke first, sharing his experiences and insights on the current state of the legal industry, future trends, and the development prospects of the branch following its opening. Fan Chongyi analyzed the opportunities and challenges in the current legal services market and urged the King&Capital  Law  Firm to remain true to the original mission of the rule of law, deepen expertise in specialized fields, prioritize talent development, earn client trust through professional competence, fulfill the mission of the rule of law with a sense of responsibility, and contribute to the advancement of the legal industry.

Tian Wenchang, founder and honorary director of King&Capital  Law  Firm, reviewed the development of the King&Capital Haikou Branch over the past five years and the current state of the legal industry in Hainan in recent years. He encouraged everyone to see hope, noting that challenges are also opportunities. He stated that the newly established King&Capital Haikou Branch, located in a prime ocean-view office building spanning nearly 1,000 square meters and equipped with first-class legal service facilities, now possesses the material conditions necessary to build a modern boutique law firm. “We have forged resilience through challenges and accumulated experience through opportunities. Building upon the King&Capital Law Firm culture of democracy, inclusivity, harmony, and equality, the Haikou Branch should recruit talent without prejudice, ground our work in professionalism, leverage team mechanisms, and foster interaction between the main office and branches. We must achieve cross-office, cross-departmental, and cross-disciplinary collaboration, pool resources from all sides, and boldly innovate to strive for new breakthroughs.”

Tian Wenchang further stated that the core objective of the Haikou Branch of the King&Capital  Law  Firm is to build a specialized, team-oriented, international, and digitally intelligent boutique law firm in the Hainan region. “This positioning determines our direction and will shape our actions.”
